As a presenter at yesterday's 2nd annual Man Up! Conference, it has become patently clear that the majority of young black men and boys in Oakland are daily growing desensitized to their own disadvantage and oppression.

As late as 7th grade, our boys have not been taught about the seriousness of the challenges facing them, nor have they been prepared to engage their heart and mind as tools, even as weapons, to forge a brighter and more balanced future for themselves.

The culture of nihilism, of gangs, and of prison have supplanted formal schooling and non-criminal, reasoned thought as a viable mode of being for the younger generations.

Man up, black men, and continue to reach out to these boys! The biblical fire has already come. We (re)build out of ashes.

It says, "check out which vendors will be selling gifts, food, drinks, and more here." but when I click on it there is no list that I can find.

Mangpsteen is a wonderful place to shop. I met Gabrielle at Jack London Square artisan market on July 4th. I purchased a classy, beautiful, one of a kind beaded necklace. The customer service l received was excellent.

Hey Rachel,

It's been awhile.... Good to hear from you! in the interest of time, I'm pasting some info below... feel free to follow up with questions!

In order to sell at the event, you must be an Oakland Unwrapped vendor. I can’t remember if you currently sell online. If you do, then it’s easy, we can link to you – see this first form below. If not, and you are interested in selling online, we can help you do that. In that case, you can get more info on the How to Sell page, and then let me know what you think:

At first I thought they were referring to the fruit itself. Then I realized it was an organization. Well this just proves how popular Mangosteen fruit really is.
