2nd Annual Man Up! Conference

Conference, hosted by the organization The 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, will take place on Saturday, July 24th.  The conference is open to black men in grades 6-12 and works to prepare them to grow up to lead balanced lives.  For more information and for registration information, check out this flyer.

Social Media Workshops through Berkeley Chamber

berkeley-chamber-logoAttention all small businesses!  The Berkeley Chamber of Commerce is hosting a series of workshops this summer on social media and what it can do to help generate more interest in your business.  The second of five workshops is entitled “What You Can Learn from the Big Brands Best Practices with Social Media.”  This workshop will take place on Thursday, July 29th, from 8 AM-10 AM.  For more information and to register, check out the Chamber’s website.

OneCalifornia Bank was Voted Best of the East Bay!

And don’t forget to come to the Best of the East Bay party on August 6th at Jack London Square!  This year’s party will be at Jack London Square waterfront from 5-11PM.  The event is free and open for all ages, and features multiple bands, a kid’s zone, and a Blues Pavilion, paying tribute to the blues history of Russeel City in Hayward and 7th Street in Oakland.  For more details and ongoing updates, including updates of the band lineup for the evening, please visit

Free Financial Education Workshops

cccssf-logoThe Consumer Credit Counseling Services of San Francisco host a number of free financial education workshops every month that cover a multitude of financial-related topics.  From better money management to information for first time home buyers, there is a lot of useful and relevant information presented in these workshops and worth checking out.  Workshops are free, but you do have to RSVP to save a spot in the workshop.  For more information, check out the CCCS website.

Oakland Grown Public Party

oaklandgrownlogoOakland Grown–a local non-profit organization whose mission is to support and celebrate Oakland’s local, independent businesses and artists–wants you to come out, meet the artists and business owners, and learn more about their movement!  They are holding a mixer on Thursday, July 15th at ERA Art Bar and Lounge in the up-and-coming Uptown District of Oakland.  Come meet the Oakland Grown crew and mingle with other folks who love and support Oakland and independent businesses and artists.  There will be a cash bar, music, and special guests.  Check out details on the Facebook event page.
