This year marks the tenth anniversary of Art and Soul, Oakland’s live music and art festival in downtown Oakland. The event takes place on Saturday, August 21st and Sunday, August 22nd. This year’s lineup features well known groups, including Cake, MC Hammer, En Vouge, Tony! Toni! Toné! as well as local East Bay talent. The event also features a Family Fun Zone for kids, art and artistic creations for purchase, lots of yummy food, and more! Tickets are available for purchase online. Pacific Coast Brewing is finally legal! The company is celebrating 21 years in Oakland this October and wants you to join in the festivities! They will kick off their two day celebration on Friday, October 16, with live music, food, birthday cake, and, of course, beer, including their special 21st Anniversary Imperial IPA. Oakland’s Dimond District is hosting their annual Oaktoberfest this Saturday, October 10, celebrating all that is October and Oakland! This is Oakland’s Family-Friendly Craft Beer Festival, featuring a kid’s area, live music, and good food and drink, including a German Style Homebrew Competition. This year’s Art & Soul Oakland Festival will be moving from Labor Day weekend to mid August. For $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and kids age 13-17 and 12 and under free you can come and see Shawn Colvin, BoDeans, Bobby Caldwell, or Frankie Lee–among a plethora of other talent that will be performing. Not only will there be amazing live entertainment, there will also be art shows, dancing, food, local artisans and vendors, and more. This year, all food vendors will be using compostable plates, cups, and utensils too because the festival is going green! There will be recycling and compost stations throughout the event area.
