Oaklavia–Come Play in the Car-Free Streets!

oaklaviaOn Sunday June 27th, Walk Oakland Bike Oakland will sponsor Oaklavia in downtown Oakland from 10 AM-2 PM.  You no longer need to venture into San Francisco to enjoy car free streets on Sunday Streets–you can do so right here in Oakland!  Come bike, walk, or play in the car free streets and enjoy free dance lessons, people watching, and more!  For more information, check out Oaklavia’s website.

Day of the Dead Festival 2009

dayofthedeadOctober 31st means Halloween to many, but to others celebrating in the Mexican tradition, it represents the Day of the Dead.  In honor of El Dia de Los Muertos, La Borinquena Restaurant & Specialty Shop is hosting cooking demonstrations, video presentations, and more fun for the whole family this Saturday, October 31st at its restaurant.  And be sure to join La Borinquena and more on Sunday, November 1, in Fruitvale to visit the alter “dedicated to commemorate the people and places that have formed our community over the decades and generations.”
