Moving on from recycled paper and carpooling to the workplace, Heather, one of our summer interns found a well put-together resource for greening just about everything in your life, and we thought we’d share it: Treehugger.com, a program of Discovery (as in the Discovery Channel). Check out their green guides on weddings, snowboarding, holidays, dinner parties and more.
These guides help you think of the mutiple ways to be more conscious within each aspect of your life. For example, just with drinking beer, you’ll find 10 tips. Here are a few:
1) Choose organic beer
2) Support local breweries/prewbubs to reduce the carbon footprint from transportation (the product not being shipped, and hopefully you walking). (Like Linden Street and Pacific Coast breweries here in Oakland - both are having Oktoberfest events this month.)
3) Ask for these locally-brewed beers when you’re at a restaurant
4) Drink draught instead of of cans or bottles
5) Support sustainably-run breweries (aka solar powered, green certified operations)
See the other green beer tips and all of their green guides for more fun ideas.
